Who or what is El Gore?
El Gore is a review blog which was launched in October 2011 by Luc and Eric. After a few freelancer jobs Denis joined as a permanent member. A few months later Yannick and in April 2013 Anna joined to complete the line-up. Currently, Yannick is the only active contributor at El Gore, with the focus having shifted to music reviews nowadays.
A brief history of El Gore
In the beginning, we only wrote and published articles and reviews of our favourite music albums and movies (the majority being trash movies), as well as short news or just random stuff that the writers were interested in. Over time we decided to organise the blog in order to give it a more or less clear concept. The output was not only about the 5 permanent members’ favourite stuff anymore, but also about recent albums or movies, and about giving (independent) artists a chance to be reviewed in a critical way. Furthermore, there was a regular release of live reviews, videos, and interviews if time allowed it. There was also a satirical category released every Monday morning called “Trash Monday”, in which every writer presented their favourite awful and trashy music video in order to cheer up the people who love going to work on Mondays.
What does El Gore do now, and what are El Gore’s goals?
As time went on, we started leaning more and more towards giving unknown and independent artists, primarily musicians, a stage in order to support them. We particularly love to support Luxembourgish artists by interviewing them or reviewing their singles, EPs, albums, etc. Nevertheless, our personal interests shouldn’t go short, because we do this as a hobby, and we’d like to make those things accessible to our readers, even if it is mainstream. We prefer to support and write about independent artists, though, being independent ourselves, and are willing to call a spade a spade, be it in a positive or negative way. Above all our “work” should be fun. This project is a big hobby for us, and there are lots of other important things going on in the writers’ personal lives.
We also like to include contributions from our readers here, so don’t hesitate to get in touch if you are interested in writing a review for us.
El Gore strives to stay as independent as possible, despite working together with several labels and promoters, in order to bring you honest opinions on music.
